2019 By Jove
Our first "Super-Okanagan", first basked in the sun drenched, sage scented slopes of the black sage bench. 85% Sangiovese with a dash of Okanagans most prolific grape thrown in for some balance, results in a wine that is truly unique here and anywhere else.
A wine made specifically with cowboy cuts and Tuscan t-bones in mind. Fresh acidity, gentle tannin, bright red fruits and a savoury, earthy edge make us think of sniffing southern Okanagan wild sage while dining al fresco in a Tuscan villa with Tony Gismondi.
Sometimes you just need a little blood (sanguis) on your plate and this is the wine to help soak it up.

"Rarity is the understatement and but for the love of Zeus (Jupiter) this Modest Wines sangiovese archives to achieve learned things so few outside of Tuscany (and some parts of Umbria and Emilia-Romagna) are capable of acceding. That being varietal ease and unspoken ability, naturally, obviously and without strenuous effort. Yes the ripeness and extraction are close to the edge, wading down by the water and precariously in danger of crossing the rubicon. But they do not and with red cherry love, leathery care and savoury stability there is harmony and balance. Who could not be seduced by the teeter of volatility and swarthy hot flashes? Who would not welcome a grilled Florentine steak and a pour of this alongside? By Jove I think they've done it. Drink 2022-2026. Tasted September 2021."

"Subtle, juicy-crunchy red fruit. Great acids, fine and dusty tannins. Well-balanced, great structure. Good varietal accuracy. Solid. Gold. Tasted blind at the National Wine Awards of Canada October 2021."
